19 February 2024 │Alegria, Surigao del Norte – The Municipality of Alegria is gearing up to host the much-anticipated Division Athletic Meet (DAM) from February 21 to 24, 2024. Despite the tight timeframe for preparations, the Municipal Government, led by the visionary and energetic Mayor Rene G. Esma, has wholeheartedly embraced the challenge and pledged full support to ensure the success of the event.
In a brief meeting held on February 16, 2024, Mayor Esma underscored the significance of the DAM for Alegria and expressed his determination to make the event a resounding success despite the time constraints. “The Municipal Government of Alegria considers the Division Athletic Meet (DAM) as a challenge, considering the short time to prepare. Nevertheless, the municipal government expressed full support to the DAM 2024,” Mayor Esma stated.
More than 2,259 delegates from various municipalities and schools across Surigao del Norte are expected to converge in the scenic Municipality of Alegria for the highly-anticipated sporting event. Athletes, coaches, and supporters alike are eagerly looking forward to showcasing their skills, sportsmanship, and camaraderie on the field.
The DAM will kick off with the official arrival of the sports delegates, a solidarity meeting with all school sports coordinators and sports officials, a holy mass, and welcome socials hosted by the municipal government of Alegria, SDN on February 21, 2024. A set of schedules of DAM sports activities will begin on February 22 with a foot parade of delegates, an opening program at Alegria National High School, and a competition proper until February 24.
