13 April 2024 │ Alegria, Surigao del Norte – The communities of the Municipality of Alegria, Surigao del Norte, will be implementing the P7,500,000.00 worth of projects with funds from Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan—Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI – CIDSS) – Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB), which is a new modality project from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The DSWD Regional Office formally announced this project during the Municipal Orientation on April 12, 2024, Friday afternoon, at the Municipal Women’s Development Center in this municipality.

The Municipal Orientation was attended by all Punong Barangays, Department Heads, Municipal Area Coordinating Team, and the DSWD Area Coordinating Team, along with guests from KALAHI Regional Project Management Office of DSWD Caraga, led by Community Development Officer (CDO) IV Elsa Montemor.

Mayor Rene G. Esma is very grateful that the town of Alegria has been selected as one of the leading municipalities in the Caraga region for the implementation of the new modality of the KALAHI-CIDSS project named “Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay” or KKB.

“We are very grateful to the DSWD that Alegria was chosen as the pilot municipality to implement this KALAHI-CIDSS project that helped us achieve our vision of Wealth and Progress… . We built the hanging bridge just to change the mindset, ‘From terrorism to tourism’, revealed Mayor Esma.

Mayor Esma also thanked all the workers of KALAHI-CIDSS in the town, led by his efficient Municipal Area Coordinator (MAC), Arlyn Pasia-Gabelingo, who is currently the head of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

CDO IV Montemor praised the Municipality of Alegria for being one of the most active towns in Caraga to implement the Kalahi-CIDSS, which also brought DSWD Caraga great honor from the National Project Management Office (NPMO).

“Alegria became a pilot municipality in the Caraga Region because DSWD saw that Alegria was extraordinary in implementing the KALAHI projects. Several people in Alegria have been honored with DSWD awards as a result of the empowered community volunteers who have supported the agency, according to CDO Montemor.

During our Municipal Orientation, CDO Montemor explained the processes of implementing KALAHI-CIDSS while other personnel from the DSWD Regional Project Management Team gave orientations related to finance, infrastructure, and the grievance mechanism of KALAHI-CIDSS.

Municipal Vice Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr., signed. as the official representative of Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of the Php7.5 million KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB project in the town of Alegria.

The KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB Project will begin its implementation with the PhP7,500,00.00 amount this month and continue until its completion in December 2024. (JSN) P7.5 milyon nga proyekto sa KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB ipahigayun sa Alegria
