Profile of Disadvantage Persons/ Groups

Disadvantaged Persons/Groups are individuals or group of individuals who are considered economically, physically, and socially disadvantaged. These include needy family heads and other needy adults, indigent children, out-of-school youths, physically and mentally disabled persons, distressed individuals and families, and disadvantaged children. Based on the records from MSWDO from 2020 to 2022, the municipality has total of 731 disadvantage individuals composed of 446 males (61%) and 285 female (39%). Among the type of disabilities recorded include the debility on visual, learning, deaf/ mute, speech impairment, psycho-social, mental, orthopedic handicap, multiple disability, and physical disability.

The municipality has a total of 4,258 elderly recorded by the MSWDO from CY 2020 to CY 2022. Majority of the elderly is female with 57.87% while the male is 42.13%. Barangay Alipao is the highest barangay with 634 elderly persons (15% of the total elderly population). The next top five highest barangays with elderly population are San Pedro (13%); Julio Ouano (12%); Poblacion (11%); Pongtud (11%); and San Juan (10%) as shown in the graph below.

Types of clienteles

The social welfare clientele are disadvantaged women, child/youth, disabled persons, and elderly. Cases are served to different clientele groups in 12 barangays. Programs and services are being rendered depending upon the needs of the clients. Financial support is also extended depending upon the financial availability of the local government unit.
