The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Surigao del Norte chapter assists the five barangays of Alegria, Surigao del Norte in crafting the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) plan.
On August 13, 2020, the PNRC facilitated the conduct of the BDRRM plan workshop and first-round Quality Assurance System (QAS) to five (5) partner barangays in the municipality composed of Camp Eduard, Budlingin, Pongtud, San Juan, and Alipao to finalize the said plan. The Punong Barangay, Barangay Secretary, and Kagawad on BDRRM and Focal Person participated during the one-day workshop.
The activity aims to assist in the crafting of the BDDRM Plan of the barangays in evaluating its plans on the completeness of their documents through QAS. The said activity was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Marco Joshuie G. Espina, RN (CSR-DMS) and assisted by Allison Mae S. Ampater and Ernie Cabaluna with the support of the Local Chapter through the leadership of Mrs. Marilou E. Talingting, the PNRC SDN Chapter Administrator and Alegria, Surigao del Norte MDRRMC through the leadership of Mayor Rene G. Esma.
Meanwhile, LDRRMO Johny S. Natad expressed gratefulness to PNRC SDN Chapter for the technical assistance they provided to the five barangays since June 201
“The municipality of Alegria under the leadership of our Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma is very happy and thankful to the Philippine National Red Cross Surigao del Norte Chapter for the technical provision in formulating this BDRRM plan which is one of the required plans of every barangay local government units. The five identified barangays are privileged for this technical assistance since out of 12 barangays in the municipality they were the only BLGUs received with this valuable assistance from PNCR,” Natad said.
Surigao del Norte PNRC Community Development Officer Allison Mae S. Ampater said that the technical assistance of the PNRC to five barangays is part of the organization’s thrust and program in partnership with the Partners for Resilience (PfR 2016-2020) Project supported by the Netherland Red Cross aimed at helping the barangays became resilient to disaster and natural calamities.
