The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Alegria, Surigao del Norte in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Surigao del Norte conducted the Early Warning System Orientation held at the Municipal Function Hall, Alegria, Surigao del Norte July 09, 2020, afternoon. Mr. Edgar Catulay of Surigao del Norte PDRRMO discussed the Early Warning System (EWS) to the 7 Punong Barangays and Kagawad on DRRM of Julio Ouano, Ombong, Anahaw, San Pedro, Alipao, San Juan and Pongtud.

Mr. Catulay briefly discussed the standardized early warning system according to the DOST-PAGASA / NDRRMC guidelines based on color-coding. The PDRRMO also request all identified barangays to assign two monitoring personnel who perform the monitoring task for the water level gauge and rain gauge. The water level gauge will be constructed soon to each barangay by a contractor of the PDRRMO. The identified barangays are also tasked to found the appropriate location for the installation of the water level gauge.

After the orientation, Mr. Catulay turns over three manual early warning bells and three manual rain gauges.
